About Glia

Our award-winning technology powers conversations with customers for some of the world’s largest enterprises. We believe that combining the human touch with technology is the best way to create amazing customer experiences. When human abilities such as problem-solving, creative thinking and relationship building are enhanced with technology... magical moments happen.

The team’s setup

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join the team building the core Interaction engine. You'll be working on the systems that orchestrate interactions between agents, visitors, and supervisors across Glia — ensuring the core services have high fault tolerance and reliability.

It is not often that we hire someone from outside to join the core interaction team. This unique opportunity allows you to fast-track your career and learn from our most tenured and senior team members.

Our team is distributed across Tallinn and Tartu, Estonia, operating in the Eastern European time zone (EET/EEST).

The work

As an entry-level software engineer in this team, you are expected to learn fast independently while solving actual business problems under supervision. You will be building Elixir microservices that utilize event-driven architecture with Kafka, backed by Postgres and NoSQL stores, like Redis and DynamoDB. All of our services run on Kubernetes, in Docker containers.

Since all our product teams are self-reliant, at some point you will work on some features that also require front-end work. The exact amount will vary depending on the projects the team undertakes.

Our current tech stack:

  • Coding languages: Elixir, Ruby, Javascript (React)
  • Current Persistence Solutions: Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, S3
  • Infrastructure: AWS
  • Monitoring: DataDog
  • CI/CD: Jenkins
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Ansible
  • Other: AWS services, Kafka, GitHub

Note: We are constantly evolving our tech stack to ensure the usage of the right tools for specific needs, and you will be part of the process of choosing new technologies.

Candidate requirements

  • Strong desire to learn, adapt, and thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
  • Graduated from University and ready for full-time employment
  • At least 6 months of hands-on experience on a production project
  • Results-oriented with a high attention to detail and quality
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Self-starter with the energy, drive and determination to accomplish goals

It would be great if you had prior experience with event-driven architecture as we are taking on this journey together with you.

We're committed to fostering an inclusive environment and strongly encourage applications from candidates of all genders, backgrounds, and experiences. We believe that diverse perspectives lead to better solutions and a stronger team.

Our company supports work-life balance and offers flexible working arrangements to accommodate various needs. We provide equal opportunities for growth and advancement to all team members.
